Orthotic inserts are custom made insoles that fit inside the shoe to help improve a person’s gait (walking or running) in order to eliminate any discomfort from poor muscle function resulting from unbalanced foot structure.

The orthotic insert is an aid to improve foot function and not specifically a device to correct foot structure. The improvements that a properly prescribed and fitted orthotic insert can provide depend on the assessment and diagnostic skills of the Chiropodist providing them, as well as on the patient’s ability to follow the wearing instructions.
