Ingrown toe nails are defined as the edge of the nail border penetrating the skin of the side of the toe. The toe usually appears red, swollen and infected with pain associated with the condition. The causes can include poor fitting shoes or socks, poor nail cutting techniques, or injury such as hitting the toe against a hard object.

Proper nail care is key to preventing the occurrence of this painful condition. If you have an ingrown toe nail, there are several treatments that can eliminate the problem including nail surgery which can permanently relieve this uncomfortable condition. Here at the West Mountain Footcare clinic we have treated thousands of ingrown toe nails with both conservative methods as well as surgical means.
